I hope you enjoy Memoirs of a Single Dad as much as I enjoy building it. Memoirs has been around a few years now and has enjoyed some successes and some failures. I’ve learned from both; perhaps more so from the failures as the case may be. I trudge on and hopefully am better today than I was yesterday.
What Makes Me, Me
I’m a 37 year old single dad living in Florida. I grew up in Iowa and will always consider myself a Midwesterner at heart. 99% of my family all still live within a 10 mile radius of each other up there. My Iowa roots mean that I appreciate a little hard work, a good ear of corn and mashed potatoes and gravy. Like everyone, I’ve had my own share of personal battles but the two that shaped my life the most were losing my mom at a young age to breast cancer and my marriage and subsequent divorce. Losing my mom when I was 15 prompted me to start writing. The children’s therapist I saw encouraged me to write down my feelings since I was slow in sharing during our counseling sessions. The end of my marriage re-invigorated that in me and I began writing again after our split.
About Memoirs of a Single Dad
I started this site on a whim and at the encouragement of friends at the time. My dating stories always made their jaws drop and I thought it would be fun to share my experiences with others and hopefully find some other dating bloggers along the way. I write because I enjoy it and because I feel I was born to do it. I hope you find mine and my guest bloggers’ posts inspiring, funny, uplifting, sobering and insightful. I welcome and encourage comments on all of my posts and try my best to respond to as many of them as I can.
